On July 8, 2023 at the Institute for Applied Research for Business in Skopje, a training on the topic "Measures and actions to prevent money laundering and financing of terrorism undertaken by non-banking operators", starting at 10:00 a.m., was held. The training was hybrid (with physical and online presence) and interactive. During the training, the participants have discussed about the issues related to non-financial institutions from the aspect of preventing money laundering and terrorism financing, customer risk, country risk and transaction risk, as well as the cases when and which measures and actions for prevention of money laundering and terrorism financing are applied by non-banking operators.
The lecturer of the training, Dr. Goce Trajkovski, has many years of experience in the field of prevention of money laundering and financing of terrorism and is a long-time member of the Committee of Experts on Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism in the Council of Europe (Moneyval). The Institute for Applied Research for Business thanks the participants for their attention and presence at the training.
Why is AML/CFT training mandatory in North Macedonia?
The Law on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism (Article 5, Article 12(1)(12) and Article 68(14)) defines the entities that must provide their employees with at least two AML/CFT trainings per year: financial institutions and their subsidiaries and branches, accountants, lawyers, notaries and other non-banking entities, and organisers of games of chance.
IARB regularly organises these trainings, online and as tailor-made trainings for individual entities. Participants receive a certificate of participation and the training materials. See our AML/CFT trainings and frequently asked questions.
