
The Institute for Applied Research for Business has published the monograph "Circular Economy: Current State and Challenges for Macedonian Companies" by the authors Dr. Aneta Vasiljevikj-Shikaleska and Dr. Biljana Gjozinska.
This monograph represents a sublimation of the authors knowledge and research results in the field of circular economy and sustainable development.
Through a comprehensive analysis of the concept of the circular economy, the authors introduce the reader to the business models and practices of the circular economy as a basis for the growth of enterprises in today's modern society. The continuous adjustment of both, industry and companies, through the optimization of their production processes, then by introducing new or modified products and services to the market, while paying attention to environmental protection, will contribute for stimulating innovation, increasing the competitiveness of enterprises and gaining economic and environmental benefits on the long run.
Considering that the adaptation of consumers, as end users of the offered goods and services, is of great importance for the transition to a circular economy, the monograph also analyzes the consumers behavior in terms of implementation of circular practices during their daily activities. The most commonly used indicators for measuring the level of circularity in national economies, applicable to all countries regardless of the level of economic development of the country are also given.
The solid waste management, as one of the most exploited circular practices, represents a complex and multidisciplinary problem and it should be observed from technical, economic and social perspective. The authors have skillfully made a detailed review of the indicators of circularity and the approaches and models used to optimize waste management systems worldwide.
